This workshop will give participants the opportunity to learn about the clinical and administrative management of disasters, using the experiences of the King Abdul Aziz Medical City, KSA to draw on the lessons learned.

Delegates attending this workshop will:

  • Understand the basic components of a hospital disaster plan
  • Discuss the disaster paradigm
  • Evaluate the concept of the hospital incident command system
  • Practice the different triage protocol
  • Review hospital surge capacity for mass casualty events by drawing on real experiences
  • Learn from real-life examples of disaster scenarios

09:00 – 15:30 Workshop B: Disaster and crisis scenario workshop – simulating a bomb explosion at an installation

As everyone involved in disaster management knows, the main focus is always on protecting the lives of people and the safety of assets.

This workshop will simulate a real-life disaster scenario and will give participants the opportunity to react to the crisis situations as they unfold. This will give delegates first-hand experience of the challenges of emergency response, whilst gaining an appreciation of the need for proactive planning, exercising and maintenance.

  • Minimise risk to your company and resources when disaster strikes
  • Operate a command centre and recover quickly
  • Document, track, monitor and control events and actions taken
  • Effectively manage crisis communications with external and internal agencies, and the public
  • Familiarise and prepare staff to react quickly, decisively and appropriately
  • Gain the skills required to develop a detailed emergency response plan
