09:00 - 16:00 Masterclass: Effective Strategies for Developing and Executing Emergency Response Plans
Developing coherent and unified emergency response plans requires careful planning and the right systems to allow for effective execution. Utilising their work in responding to earthquakes as a case-study, the Earthquake Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority of Pakistan will take attendees through the full process of putting together an emergency response plan, executing the plan and utilising lessons learned to enhance future strategy.
Who should attend? Delegates involved in preparing or executing emergency response plans for any disaster or crisis response situation.
Section 1: The rescue and relief phase
- Outlining necessary rescue and relief activities
- Case study analysis of earthquake rescue and relief, including: conduct, general data and lessons learned
- Completion of an interactive exercise to allow delegates to share individual experiences
Section 2: The Earl Recovery Plan (ERP)
- Outlining the details of the Earl Recovery Plan (ERP)
- Assessing why the need for ERP arose
- Drilling down into how the ERP was put together
- Executing the ERP
- Isolating the lessons learned and how these can be applied to other emergency situations
Section 3: Reconstruction & Rehabilitation (R&R)
- Case study of reconstruction and rehabilitation following an earthquake
- Outlining the strategy of utilizing private donors and the government of Pakistan
- Sharing examples of specific strategies for the various phases of reconstruction and rehabilitation
- Designing systems and tools to improve information flow
